Additional Placement Options

Seattle Central College also accepts the following placement options. If you have questions about any other forms of testing that are not listed in the placement area such as TEAS, please contact the Testing Center at Testing.Central@seattlecolleges.edu.

If you graduated from a US high school within the last 10 years, look at the following table for your class placement.

Note: High School students with ELL classes on their transcript must also have at least two years of Standard Level English Language Arts classes with a 2.0 or greater.

*Transcripts (including transcripts with ELL classes) will be accepted for students in 12th grade who are registering before they have received final grades. A final transcript showing overall HS GPA must be provided after final term.

If you took a placement at another Washington State Community or Technical College within the last year, you are eligible to use your results for comparable placement at Seattle Central College. Send an official or unofficial copy of your results to Admissions.Central@seattlecolleges.edu. Be sure to include your ctcLink ID number and name as it appears on state or federal identification.

If you completed the GED within the last 10 years, look at the following table for your class placement. If you don't have the scores needed, follow the links at the bottom of the page.

If you took the TOEFL placement within the last two years, visit the International Programs website for more information about how English proficiency scores can be used for a direct placement.

To use a TOEFL score for placement, email an official or unofficial copy to: Admissions.Central@seattlecolleges.edu. Include your ctcLink ID number and name as it appears on state or federal identification.

To use AP score(s) for placement, email an official or unofficial copy to: Admissions.Central@seattlecolleges.edu. Include your ctcLink ID number and name as it appears on state or federal identification.

For transfer credit, send official AP scores to Seattle Central College through the College Board website. Be sure to complete the Incoming Transcript Evaluation Form.

For all questions concerning AP scores, contact the Credentials Evaluation office at Credentials.Central@seattlecolleges.edu. Students receiving a score of 4 or 5 on the AP English Language and Composition placement will receive credit for ENGL&101. For math credit and/or placement, see AP score equivalencies approved by the Washington State Board for Community and Technical Colleges. 

To use IB score(s) for placement, email an official or unofficial copy to: Admissions.Central@seattlecolleges.edu. Include your ctcLink ID number and name as it appears on state or federal identification.

For transfer credit, send official IB scores to Seattle Central College through the International Baccalaureate website. Be sure to complete the Incoming Transcript Evaluation form. 

For all questions concerning IB scores, contact the Credentials Evaluation office at Credentials.Central@seattlecolleges.edu. Students receiving a score of 5, 6, or 7 on the IB Language A: Language and Literature exam will receive credit for ENGL&101. For math credit and/or placement, see the IB credit chart.
