WorkFirst
WorkFirst is Washington's Temporary Assistance program for Needy Families (TANF) that helps people in low-income families find living wage jobs and become self-sufficient. The Department of Social and Health Services (DSHS) is the entry point for WorkFirst participants.
WorkFirst services include:
- Tuition and Book assistance
- Support Services (transportation, supplies, etc.)
- WorkFirst WorkStudy (Paid work experience. See advisor for details.)
- Educational planning and advising
Do I qualify?
WorkFirst participants must be enrolled in one of the following programs:
- Approved Professional or technical program
- Transfer Degrees (AA-DTA, AB-DTA, AS-DTA) with a clear career goal
- English as a Second Language (ESL)
- Adult Basic Education (ABE)
- GED® preparation
- Must apply for Federal Financial Aid (FAFSA) or State Financial Aid (WASFA)
