Student Emergency Assistance Grant

If you have had a financial emergency and are considering dropping classes, the Student Emergency Assistance Grant (SEAG) funds may be able to help. An emergency is a sudden or unexpected “one-time” situation that could affect your ability to continue your college education and complete the current quarter. SEAG funds are meant to be low barriers to allow quick resolution of immediate emergencies.

SEAG Funds do not provide long-term financial support. There is limited funding each quarter, and not all requests can be awarded.

Students may be awarded up to $1000 in SEAG funds during an academic year (from the beginning of the Summer quarter to the end of the Spring quarter of the following year).

Some Eligible One Time Emergency Expenses may include:

  • Assistance with overdue rent which could result in eviction and in situations that are beyond your control
  • Utility bills that have become overdue due to situations that are beyond your control (electricity, water, Wi-Fi, phone bills)
  • Transportation expenses (unexpected car repair/maintenance, bus fare, etc.)
  • Medical emergency expenses, eyeglasses, or help with necessary dental work
  • Parenting/Child-related emergency expenses
  • School-related Books
  • Technology required and necessary for your training (Computer, Wi-Fi, etc.)
  • Food
  • Being the victim of a crime/theft

Some expenses/situations we cannot fund include:

  • Tuition
  • Class Fees
  • Expenses that arise from quitting your job due to your school schedule, or not being able to work due to your school schedule
  • Past debt (school debt, credit cards, loans, etc.)
  • Everyday living expenses that are not of an emergency nature
