Multilingual Translation Masterclass with Sawad Hussain
- When: Wednesday, May 7, 2 to 4:20 p.m.
- Where: Seattle Central College, Broadway Edison Building, BE4149
Acclaimed literary translator Sawad Hussein will visit Seattle Central College to lead an undergraduate workshop for students in Takami Nieda’s ENGL210: Translation for Global Competence class. While translation is often seen as a solitary task, this workshop will highlight the advantages of working collaboratively within a supportive community. Students will explore key questions like, “What is the translator trying to achieve?” and “How can we help improve the translation?” The workshop will include an editing exercise, a session where select participants’ translation excerpts are workshopped, and a Q&A.
A limited number of seats are available to NOTIS members. Interested members should register through the NOTIS website. The registration portal will close when the cap is reached.
