  • Health Information Technician (averaging $41,300 annually): This position is responsible for organizing and managing patient health information data, including electronic health records and medical coding.
  • Support Specialist (averaging $56,626 annually): This position provides technical assistance and troubleshooting support to healthcare staff using IT systems, software, and hardware.
  • Implementation Support Associate (averaging $59,837 annually): This position assists in the implementation and rollout of new healthcare IT systems, provind user training and support during the transition period.
  • Quality Assurance Tester (averaging $74,369 annually): This position conducts testing to ensure functionality, usability, and compliance with industry standards.

What You’ll Get

We partner with hospitals and health centers across King County and Washington to prepare you for a rewarding career in Health IT. Within just nine (9) months of training, you’ll get:

  • The Health IT certificate from Seattle Central College, co-designed with the healthcare industry, covering foundational IT skills, customer service skills, and exposure to Epic, the leading electronic health record system in the country.
  • CompTIA A+ certification, the industry standard for establishing a career in IT and the preferred qualifying credential for technical support and IT operational roles - trusted by employers around the world.

Looking for a program that fits your busy schedule? Discover our flexible class formats and convenient options for working professionals.

  • Location: The program is offered virtually through Seattle Central College.
  • Length: 9 months (15 credits per quarter for 3 quarters).
  • Schedule and Modality: Courses will be offered virtually at set dates and times. All courses will take place in the evenings so you can work, take care of your family, or engage other pursuits during the daytime hours.

Scholarship

Three (3) scholarships are available for students from underrepresented backgrounds who are interested in pursuing a career in Healthcare Information Technology. The scholarship will cover full tuition, fees, and the cost of the CompTIA A+ certification exam for selected students in the Healthcare IT Program at Seattle Central College.

  • Program Prerequisites: There are no formal prerequisites for program entry.
