Counselor Classes - Human Development

HDC- Human Development Courses (under Human Development in the class schedule) are the classes taught by Faculty Counselors. Counseling Faculty at SCC are specialists in Human Development, particularly in the transitions experienced in academic spaces. HDC themes include: self-exploration, attitude & behavior awareness, health & wellness, learning, goal setting, cultural awareness & responsiveness, and connection to community throughout our lives.

HDC 100: Career Planning (1-3 credits)

Assists new students in their adjustment to community college. Includes goal setting, self-motivation skills, identifying college resources, personal development, and general study hints. Students in this course are connected to staff in academic advising, financial aid, and First Year Career Services. HDC 101 also includes embedded peer mentors for additional support.
