We are so excited that you have chosen Seattle Central College and want to invite you to join us to get the SCOOP (Seattle Central Onboarding and Orientation Program). SCOOP offers the support you need to be ready to start your first quarter as a Tiger through Pre-Orientation and New Student Orientation programming.
New Student Orientation
Spring Quarter
Wednesday, March 19, 2025 from 1pm-4:00pm
Seattle Central College
Whether you are a new student, new to campus, or coming back to Central after a break, join us for New Student Orientation! All students, from high school completion to Bachelor of Applied Science, are strongly encouraged to attend.
At orientation you will:
- Connect with campus departments and resources like financial aid and advising
- Learn more about your area of study
- Meet faculty and other students
- Enjoy light refreshments together and get some Central Tiger swag!
Schedule:
- 1:00 p.m. – Welcome & Opening Session
- 1:30 p.m. – Panel of Faculty & Students
- 2:00 p.m. – Areas of Study & Workshops (IT, Financial Aid, etc.)
- 3:00 p.m. – Resource Fair (Student Clubs and Campus Groups)
- 3:45 p.m. – Closing & Event Wrap-Up
OPTIONAL 4:00-5:00 p.m.: Drop-In Services
You are welcome to stay a bit later to take advantage of a campus tour or personalized drop-in assistance from: Admissions/Enrollment, Financial Aid, WorkForce Education, and/or Advising.
Future New Student Orientation Dates
Summer 2025: Wednesday, June 18, 2025 1-4pm
While we strongly encourage you to attend the whole event, we realize that might not work with your schedule, so please feel free to attend as much of the afternoon as possible.
Program Specific Orientation
Running Start, Seattle Promise, International Programs, and Basic and Transitional Studies (ABE, ESL, and GED®) have separate orientations. If you are enrolled in these programs, you are welcome but not required to participate in New Student Orientation.
If you have taken classes at North Seattle College or South Seattle College or have already earned an associate or bachelor's degree, you are eligible to bypass the New Student Orientation.
How to Prepare
Students are highly encouraged to register for classes prior to attending Orientation. You may find you have questions, are feeling stuck, or just want some extra support. Seattle Central offers various Pre-Orientation Events to help you start your academic journey with your best paw forward!
- March 14, Friday (4:00 - 5:30)
- March 17, Monday (11:00 - 12:30)
Pre-Orientation will be hosted via Zoom. You will receive the link from fye.central@seattlecolleges.edu on the day of the event. The zoom room will become available at the start time found above.
- Connect with Seattle Central advisors, faculty, and staff
- Support activating and understanding your student accounts
- ctcLink, MySeattleColleges, Starfish, Canvas, and Office 365
- Support with next steps enrolling in classes
Online Orientation
Whether you're unable to attend Orientation in person or are looking to learn more about your education at Seattle Central, review Online Orientation. Online orientation will introduce you to services, resources, and tools that will make you more likely to persist and complete your goals at Central!
