Additional Program Specific Steps

1. Attend a Apparel Design & Development Information Session.
2. Complete the 5-Step Enrollment Process for Seattle Central College, which includes placement testing and transcript evaluations to ensure you meet the eligibility requirements.
3. Meet with an Advisor to evaluate your eligibility, issue the proper form and open a file with the Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences office.

Our graduates hit the floor running.

This is a cohort-based program and typically begins in fall quarter.

The Apparel Design and Development pathway can lead to various career opportunities.

A Bachelor's degree or higher may be required for some careers listed above.

This degree is for students focused on learning a skill or technology for immediate employment.

Few courses in the Associate in Applied Science (AAS) degree programs will transfer to four-year colleges or universities. Students interested in further education should consider the Associate in Applied Sciences-Transfer (AAS-T) degree. Consult a program advisor or transfer institution concerning course transferability prior to enrollment.

• Satisfy the requirements of eligibility for ENGL& 101: English Composition I with our English DSP and Level 2 with our Math DSP. You can complete both of our placement surveys.
• If you have completed ENGL& 101 or higher as well as Math 087 or higher (within the past 3 years), please send your unofficial transcripts to Nicholas.Kaatz@Seattlecolleges.edu to have your eligibility reviewed.
• Demonstrate intermediate sewing skills by successfully completing prerequisite skill development courses, APPRL096 / APPRL098 / APPRL100 (recommended) or APPRL 099 Summer Intensive before enrolling in the program. The APPRL096 / APPRL098 / APPRL100 courses must be taken sequentially. These courses are expected to be offered:
  • Apparel 096 – Fall, Winter
  • Apparel 098 – Winter, Spring
  • Apparel 100 – Spring, Summer
  • Apparel 099 Intensive – Summer
