The Associate of Applied Science-Transfer (AAS-T) degree in Allied Health helps students advance their education and career training in the healthcare field.
This degree is for many types of students: students who have already earned a healthcare certificate and want career advancement; students who are interested in starting a career in healthcare through a dual degree program; and students who are planning to pursue a Bachelor of Applied Science (BAS) degree program.
Students will develop a rounded education in the health sciences while learning to deliver healthcare as part of a team and improving communication and patient advocacy skills.
Students will complete 90 units of coursework, earning an Associate of Applied Science-Transfer (AAS-T) degree in Allied Health. Completing this program prepares graduates for quick entry into a variety of high-demand healthcare careers or to transfer into an applied bachelor's degree (BAS) program to continue their education.

A Bachelor's degree or higher may be required for some careers listed above.
Completing this program prepares graduates for quick entry into a variety of high-demand healthcare careers or to transfer into an applied bachelor's degree (BAS) program to continue their education.
The entrance requirements for the AAS-T in Allied Health: Generalist program include the following:
An allied health certificate. Must be at least 10 credits in length, from a regionally accredited institution, and in an approved field (pdf). If the certificate was earned longer than 5 years ago, you must have been employed in healthcare for at least 1 year full-time (or the equivalent) within the past 5 years.
Completion of the following general education courses:
- ENGL& 101
- MATH& 146 or MATH 136 (must be within the past 5 years)
- HUM 105 or CMST 205
- 5 unit lab science in BIOL or CHEM
Completion of at least 30 credits of approved allied health courses (including certificate). See an advisor for details.

Related Electives
30 units. Minimum 2.0 grade required. This section can be fulfilled by any combination of the following:
- Additional general education credits chosen from the courses tagged as fulfilling the AA degree Areas of Knowledge requirements (marked as VLPA*, ISC, or NW in the online course schedule)
- Allied health certificate credits if more than 30 credits were transferred in from the student's certificate
- Up to 15 credits of the following courses: ACCT& 201-203, BTM 108, 109, 118-120, 231-233, 236, 237, 245, 260, 265, 278
- Up to 3 credits of PEC courses
- Up to 6 credits of HDC courses
- Note: No more than 10 credits of studio/performing arts VLPA classes will count toward AAS-T degree.

The Associate of Applied Science-Transfer (AAS-T) degree in Allied Health is for many different types of students:
- Students who have already earned a healthcare certificate and want career advancement
- Students who are interested in starting a career in healthcare
- Students planning to pursue a Bachelor of Applied Science (BAS) degree program in Community Health and Education.
- Students accepted into the Respiratory Care or Dental Hygiene program (who will get a more specialized associate degree and continue on to earn a Bachelor of Applied Science degree in Allied Health).
