We invite you to visit Seattle Central College’s Wood Technology Center to explore our state-of-the-art facility that includes workshops, a computer lab, collaboration space, classrooms, and offices. During the tour, you can watch student projects take shape, meet our dedicated instructors, and discover the equipment we use. Tours also include information sessions so you can learn about our programs.

Tours and Information Sessions:

• Tours are not offered in the summer because classes are not in session. We want you to experience a live classroom and get a chance to talk to faculty. New Tour dates will be posted by October 2026 once fall quarter classes begin!

A Bachelor's degree or higher may be required for some careers listed above.

This certificate is for students focused on learning a skill or technology for immediate employment in the construction industry.

Credits earned in certificate programs are generally applicable toward an Associate in Applied Science (AAS) or Associate in Applied Science-Transfer (AAS-T) degree.

There are no entry requirements for this program.

Are you interested in gaining the skills needed to work in building and construction? New construction projects start daily in the Seattle area. Start your construction career by earning a certificate in the Pre-Apprenticeship Construction Training (PACT) program.

Our program includes:

• Hand tool and power tool use
• Industrial safety
• Trades math
• Forklift operation certification
• Road flagging certification
• OSHA 10 certification
• First Aid / CPR certification
• PACT is a formally recognized apprenticeship preparation program by the Washington State Apprenticeship & Training Council.

PACT Certifications

Our Flagging, Forklift Operation, OSHA 10, and First Aid/CPR certification classes are part of the PACT program curriculum.

Flagging Certification: Learn how to establish and maintain a safe traffic flow in a construction zone and understand both hazardous and safe behaviors involved in a variety of flagger situations. Students must take a final test to receive their Washington state flagging certification.

Forklift Operation and Certification: Study the functions and parts of a forklift, OSHA forklift regulations, safety habits in forklift operation and the proper picking, placing and moving of a variety of loads. Both the written and drive tests must be taken and passed in order to receive the Washington State three-year forklift operator certification.

First Aid/CPR Certification: Through our first aid certification class you'll learn how to respond to specific situations, which will help you care for people in crisis as they wait for medical professionals to arrive.

OSHA 10 Certification: The OSHA 10 course is intended to provide an entry level construction worker's general awareness on recognizing and preventing hazards on a construction site.
