Christine Torres-Clara
Christine Torres-Clara is a proud first-generation college student who earned her Master’s in Social Work from the University of Washington. Her perspective on the world is informed by the experience of being raised by a single-father who served in the US military, as well as coming from an immigrant community. These experiences had a deep imprint on her values, which has allowed her to build bonds and relationships among many communities.
Most recently, Christine was a part-time counselor at Seattle Central and taught the HDC 101 Course. Additionally, she brings over 20 years of professional experience working across the state both within the social service and education field. She bodes a wide range of skills and knowledge ranging from providing intervention services to gang-involved youth, therapeutic services to APIA sexual assault victims, and leading a team of 12 colleagues to successfully serve 1,400 middle and high-school scholars yearly across 12 schools in the Seattle and Kent School Districts.
Most of her time is spent with her wonderful family, a loving partner, three amazing children, ranging in ages from 11-27 and their dog, Son Goku (named after a Dragonball character). She also loves to cook because she believes a delicious meal, music, and fabulous conversations bring people together and being physically active, as it helps her feel grounded and energized.
