Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) Core

STEM Core is a cohort-based learning model for students interested in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math. The program will get students calculus ready within a year by guaranteeing registration in math classes. STEM Core also puts on other events to give participants the opportunity to network with STEM employers, learn skills to be successful academically, and more. In addition to all of these resources, participants have access to a dedicated STEM Core Student Support Specialist.

Cohort based learning model: A cohort is a group of students that enter the program together and remain together throughout the year. The cohort model enhances the speed learning while encouraging both academic and professional success.

Paid Internship Opportunity: STEM Core believes internship experiences are critical to building a STEM pipeline. Current internship partners include Lawrence Livermore National Labs and NASA Jet Propulsion Laboratory, with many more partners becoming involved every year.

Student Support Specialist: The Student Support Specialist will meet individually with students to set goals and address issues impeding their success, facilitate study skill workshops, convene faculty, and facilitate work-based learning opportunities including employer field trips, guest speakers, and internships.
