Work Expectations During the Campus Closure
Unless you have received other instructions from your supervisor, you should plan to work remotely during the campus closure from August 17 - September 16, 2026 while electrical upgrades are underway. If you have questions about your work location, schedule, or responsibilities during this period, please consult your supervisor.
Touch Down Stations
If you need occasional access to campus, temporary touch down workstations will be available in the Science & Math (SAM) Building, which will remain powered throughout the project. These workstations are intended for short-term use, for example, to work on campus for an hour or two between meetings or other activities. They are not designed to serve as permanent workspaces during the closure, and you should not plan to use them as a primary workstation for the duration of the project. Space is available on a first-come, first-served basis.
Access to SAM
If you plan to use the touch down workstations, please verify your Seattle Central keycard provides access before the campus closure begins. If your card does not provide access, contact your supervisor to request temporary access to the SAM building by completing the Key Card Request Form and emailing the signed document to keycards.central@seattlecolleges.edu
Mail Deliveries
Unless you make other arrangements, mail and package deliveries received during the campus closure will be placed in your office or in a secure location near your regular workstation. Because campus buildings will be closed, you will not be able to retrieve these items until the closure ends.
Campus Security will remain on site throughout the closure. If you are expecting an important or time-sensitive delivery, please contact Campus Security at 206.934.5442 to schedule a time to pick it up. Mail delivery will be accommodated only by prior arrangement.
Please do not come to campus expecting to be escorted to your office to retrieve mail, personal belongings, or other items. Building access during the closure will be extremely limited to essential personnel only.

Dear Campus Community –
We want to provide advance notice about planned construction related to the college’s electrification efforts through the EcoDistrict project. This work supports our transition away from natural gas and steam toward a more sustainable heating and cooling system as required by the State of Washington’s Climate Commitment Act.
The construction is currently scheduled to take place this summer from August 17 – September 16, 2026.
As part of this work, Broadway Edison and Broadway Performance Hall buildings will be closed during the construction period. We are communicating directly with our union partners and the executive leadership team regarding impacts and are actively developing alternative work plans to minimize disruption for everyone, including students.
The college will remain open during construction, and employees are expected to continue working their normal schedule. Additional information, including alternative work arrangements for those working in affected buildings, will be shared as plans are finalized. Please stay tuned for future updates. If you have questions in the meantime, please contact your supervisor.

Before construction begins, please take time to prepare your workspace:
- Start cleaning out refrigerators
- Take home any important documents or personal items (including potted plants)
- Take home any equipment or materials you may need to perform your work
