Credit for Study/Volunteer Abroad

Eligibility: students
Through the office of Cooperative Education and Service learning, students can earn credit for the time they spend overseas volunteering, teaching or studying abroad. Students in the past have volunteered with many different organizations such as the following:

Amigos de las Americas

Interested in traveling to Latin America this Summer? Established in 1965, Amigos de las Americas provides an opportunity for young adults to develop leadership and problem–solving skills while participating in training and service programs in Latin America. Each summer, about 600 student volunteers in high school and college collaborate with host–country agencies and communities to provide health, environment, youth outreach and educational services in rural Latin America.

Volunteers For Peace

Volunteers For Peace (VFP) organizes, promotes and supports voluntary service opportunities in the USA and abroad as an effective means of intercultural education, service learning, and community development. VFP offers over 2,000 volunteer projects in more than 90 countries each year. Volunteers can serve for two weeks up to one year while exploring a new country and exchanging culture within a group of international volunteers.

Pacific Discovery

Pacific Discovery offers inspiring summer, semester and gap year educational travel programs abroad. Our programs blend meaningful and challenging experiential travel, cultural immersion, personal and leadership development, outdoors and wilderness exploration, volunteer and community service projects, ethical travel and sustainability focus, and transferable academic credit options.

Note: These organizations are not endorsed by or affiliated with the College. Seattle Central study abroad scholarships are not available for external programs except WCCCSA programs, Global Impact and approved faculty–led trips that are posted to this site.
