Far by Faith |
Cornel West has been
described as a man who plays two roles. First, he is a highly regarded
scholar of religion, philosophy, and African-American studies. Formerly a
university professor (a position held by only 17 of 7,000 faculty) at
Harvard, he has now returned to Princeton, where he taught from 1988 to
1994. Second, he is described as an "intellectual provocateur" outside of
the academic world, appearing in lecture halls, on television, at protest
rallies, on his own rap CD, and, most recently, in the upcoming "Matrix"
sequels. |

The Power of Myth:
The Hero's Adventure |
Joseph
Campbell (March 26, 1904 – October 30, 1987) was an American professor,
writer, and orator best known for his work in the fields of comparative
mythology and comparative religion. He has had a major influence
in helping people see past the divisive fundamentalist dogmatic
interpretation that many people have applied to religions, and he has
focused them on the spiritual truth and harmony which is the heart of
all religions. |

ORWELL ROLLS IN HIS
GRAVE |
Director Robert Kane
Pappas’ ORWELL ROLLS IN HIS GRAVE is the
consummate critical examination of the Fourth Estate, once the bastion of
American democracy. Asking whether America has entered an Orwellian world of
doublespeak where outright lies can pass for the truth, Pappas explores what
the media doesn’t like to talk about: itself. |

Georgie Girl |
What are the chances
that a former prostitute of Maori descent could be elected a Member of the
Parliament of New Zealand? Or of any parliament in the world? What if that
person were also a transsexual? The odds may seem insurmountable, but such
is the exhilarating story of Georgina Beyer as told in "Georgie Girl." |

men of Asian, European, Latino, African-American and Native American
backgrounds gather under the direction of seminar leader Lee Mun Wah to

People Like Us |
As in "middle
class," "working class," "upper class." It's the 800-pound gorilla in
American life that most Americans don't think about: how do income, family
background, education, attitudes, aspirations, and even appearance mark
someone as a member of a particular social class? |
