Bellevue Community College

Survey of Colleges and Universities Concerning Their Foreign or Second Language Requirements for Degrees and Their Acceptance of American Sign Language as Fulfilling Such Requirements

Sakuna Gray Ganbari formerly of Bellevue Community College conducted this survey in April of 2001.  Communication was made by means of a brief email inquiry.  Names of colleges and universities were acquired from the State of Washington’s Access Washington web page.  Responses were received from 10 of 14 private institutions and 9 of 11 state institutions of higher education.  Requirements for some components of graduation requirements are subject to change from time to time; so it is always good to inquire with an institution in which you are interested, especially as this information becomes old.
