Student GOPASS
Students
Seattle Community Colleges District offers ALL eligible students a subsidized bus pass called the "Gopass". The Gopass, essentially a county-wide public transit pass, allows you to ride regular Metro and Sound Transit bus service anytime, anywhere all over King County, as often as you want, for no additional charge. You can use the Gopass to get to school, to go shopping, to run errands, and to other recreational destinations. The Gopass is also valid on the Sounder Train and on selected Amtrak Cascades trains between Seattle and Everett.
While a comparable Metro bus pass, for just 2-zone service, would cost $216 a quarter, as a student, however, you are eligible to purchase the Gopass for $70 per academic quarter. The Gopass is generally valid from the first day of the academic quarter through the last day of classes. An eligible student is defined as a student enrolling for 10 more credits each quarter. NOTE: All students enrolling in 10 or more credits each quarter will be charged a Transportation Management Plan (TMP) fee of $10 per quarter. The TMP fee is a mandatory student fee and is charged, regardless of you purchasing the Gopass or not.
Non-Eligible Students
-
Due to various restrictions, certain categories of students are not eligible for the Gopass at the discounted price (of $70 per quarter). These categories generally include the ABE, ESL, Continuing Education, and Running Start students.
-
Students enrolling in less than 10 qualified credits are also not eligible for the Gopass at the discounted price (of $70 per quarter).
Non-eligible students, however, have the option of purchasing the Gopass at the "unsubsidized" price of $115 per academic quarter. NOTE: Non-eligible students do not have to pay the Transportation Management Plan fee.
Summer Quarter GOPASS
Due to the shorter quarter, the price of the Gopass is reduced during summer quarters.
- The Gopass is $30 for eligible students (10 or more credits)
- The Gopass is $75 for students who are taking less than 10 credits or non-credited classes.
Where and How to Pick Up a GOPASS
All students may purchase the Gopass directly at the Cashier Office (room BE1104K). Please make sure to complete the Student Gopass Application and prepare to show your picture ID when purchasing your pass. The Gopass is usually available for purchase approximately two weeks prior to the start of the quarter. Once the quarter has begun, the Gopass is only available through the second week of the quarter.
