Employees
The following additional benefits are available to eligible non-driving employees. NOTE: Not all benefits are available to all employees.
Punch Cards
All employees including hourly employees, who registered in the TMP program as non-driving participants, are eligible for the Punch Card. The punch card allows an employee to park up to 12 days on campus each quarter. The punch card allows you the flexibility to drive and park on campus on those days that you need your car for personal errands, appointments, etc. Please contact Transportation Services Office in person to register for and obtain a punch card.
Home Free Guarantee
(Emergency Ride Home)What happens if you have registered to take the bus, carpool (passenger only), walk, or ride your bike to work - and then there is an emergency and you have to get home fast? NO PROBLEM! If an emergency comes up during work hours - such as an illness (personal or family member) the college will pay for your taxicab home (or to a daycare address), for up to 60 miles one-way trip. You may use the Home Free Guarantee up to two (2) times per quarter.
The Home Free Guarantee benefit is only available to permanent employees participating in the TMP program. When you need to use your Home Free Guarantee, just contact the Transportation Services Office at 206-587-6931 or 587-6932 during normal office hours. After 4:30 PM, please contact the Information Office at 206-587-3800. When calling for the emergency ride home, please be prepared to:
- state the nature of your emergency
- the time you wish to be picked up
- the destination address, and
- your contact phone number
You will receive an authorization number to give to the taxi driver. Please be ready to show a picture identification to the driver, and you are on your way. Upon completion of the trip, please make sure to get a receipt from the taxi driver and send the receipt to Transportation Services Office at your earliest convenience.
Commuter Bonus+ Vouchers
The Commuter Bonus+ vouchers are awarded to eligible employees as an additional incentive for carpooling, walking, or riding a bike to/from work. The Commuter Bonus+ vouchers can be used like gift certificates at the following vendors:
Union 76 Gas Stations, REI, Brown Bear Car Wash, YMCA, AAA-Washington, and the college bookstore.
If you are a permanent employee participating in the TMP program as a carpooler, walker, or bicycle rider, you are eligible for $40 worth of Commuter Bonus+ vouchers each quarter. The vouchers can be used to buy goods or services related to your commute, for example, auto service, bicycle equipment, or walking shoes. Please register with Transportation Services Office for the Commuter Bonus+ voucher benefit. The vouchers are usually distributed to employees during mid-quarter. NOTE: The Commuter Bonus+ vouchers are provided in lieu of you receiving a GoPass. The Commuter Bonus+ vouchers are also considered a taxable benefit.
Zipcar (formerly Flexcar)
Want a better reason to leave your car home and try an alternative mode of commute to work? All permanent employees, participating in the TMP program as non-driving employees, are eligible for the Zipcar benefit. Zipcar is an affordable and convenient car-sharing program that allows participating members to use selected cars for both personal and business reasons. Seattle Central Community College pays for the cost of membership and the use of the Zipcar for all eligible employees. Once you are approved as a Zipcar member, you can use a Zipcar between the hours of 7:30 AM to 5:30 PM, Monday through Friday, for up to a maximum of four (4) hours per day.
If you are interested in the Zipcar membership, please print and complete the Employee - Zipcar Agreement and submit completed form to Jeff Keever in Transportation Services Office. we will provide you with a membership package, including membership key card and usage information
NOTE: Zipcar, a private and for-profit company, is NOT a part of Seattle Central Community College or Seattle Community Colleges District. The college pays for the use of their vehicles. Currently, Zipcar has placed many vehicles in the area surrounding Seattle Central Community College, including 2 vehicles right on SCCC main campus. Before being approved by Zipcar, they will initiate a driving record and insurance check.
