College Honors

Phi Theta Kappa – Alpha Chi Zeta Chapter: The purpose of Phi Theta Kappa shall be to recognize and encourage scholarship among two-year college students. To achieve this purpose, Phi Theta Kappa shall provide opportunity for the development of leadership and service, for an intellectual climate for exchange of ideas and ideals, for lively fellowship for scholars, and for stimulation of interest in continuing academic excellence. The Alpha Chi Zeta Chapter implements the projects and programs of Phi Theta Kappa at Seattle Central. Membership eligibility requirements: at least a 3.3 cumulative GPA and 12 accumulated credits at Seattle Central. There is a one time application fee of $60.

Cultural/Social Committees

Black Student Union: To be actively involved within the Seattle Central Community as well as the city of Seattle so that we may be able to demonstrate leadership among the African/African-American Community. Educate, Enlighten, and promote students of color.

International Student Union: To unite all international students from SCCC together in order to exchange culture, share ideas and create fun activities which also encourage friendship and the involvement of international students to SCCC. Seattle Central Business Association: To connect Seattle Central business students with other business organizations in order to succeed in the future for the field.

Anyone Can Run Club: To provide a friendly atmosphere for entry to intermediate level runners. We are an organization focused on physical health while incorporating social interaction.

Seattle Central Foundation Board's Volunteers Committee (FBV): To help achieve Seattle central Foundation’s mission by eliminating the distance between the Foundation and Students. FBV assists regularly through event-planning activities, fund-raising projects, and participation in Foundation Board’s meetings and events.

Tzu Chi Collegiate Association (Tzu Ching): To introduce “Tzu Chi” to more young adults, encourage students to get involved in volunteer works, and also let students to learn to care for others while developing a noble character and a sound mind.

 Do You Want to Start Your Own Club??

To get started, follow these steps:

  1. Brainstorm an idea for a student organization.
  1. Recruit at least eight (8) currently enrolled Seattle Central students to form your initial membership base. (Note: enrollment status of founding members will be verified as part of application review process)
  1. Identify a Seattle Central faculty or staff member to serve as your advisor.
  1. Submit a completed Student Organization Application Form to the Student Leadership Office (above the bookstore).
  1. Receive notification from the Student Organizations Resource Council (SORC) that your student organization has been ratified by the Seattle Central Associated Student Council approx. one week after application is submitted.
  1. Attend a Mandatory New Student Organization Orientation. A SORC member will be assigned to your student organization and contact you to schedule this training session.
  1. Recruit New Members! Every student currently enrolled at Seattle Central is eligible for membership in your student organization! So get out there and recruit as many members as you can!
  1. Start planning your organization’s activities!  Hold weekly meetings plan events and fundraise! And remember, the members of SORC are always available to help your student organization!
