What is the College Activities Board? The College Activities Board (CAB) is a team of students who develop and organize events and activities on campus that celebrate the diversity of our community, promote student involvement and foster collaboration among student organizations. CAB members gain hands-on experience in all aspects of event planning, including booking, promoting, and management. Clubs at Seattle Central can request event planning assistance from CAB. CAB members also serve as Seattle Central student ambassadors. Special Events Coordinators conceive and develop ideas for daytime campus events including the leadership lecture series and yearly multicultural programming. They network on and off campus with fellow students, clubs, faculty, staff and organizations. They possess the ability to represent the general student population and their interests regarding events by tracking information regarding club and student activities in conjunction with SORC, as well as events in the community at large. They also chair the Special Events Committee which has subcommittees like the Unity Fair Committee and the MLK Week & Black History Month Committee. A complete job description can be downloaded here. The Film Series Coordinator is responsible for planning and coordinating the weekly Java Wednesday film series, special film events and the student film festival. The Coordinator chairs the Film Committee and helps select films for events based on suitability and educational value, attending meetings where appropriate with groups and incorporating student suggestions into programming choices. The Coordinator is responsbile for writing and distributing promotional copy and with ensuring that graphics and copy are produced and distributed in a timely fashion. The Multicultural Events Coordinator represents the College Activites Board in committee meetings related to the planning and execution of events that celebrate the many diverse cultures represented in the student body of Seattle Central. Coordinator is responsible for attending meetings, planning events and maintaining an events calendar. The Coordinator is responsible for ensuring that promotional text and graphics are produced and distributed in a timely manner and with sending emails to students, staff and faculty detailing upcoming events. Coordinator will serve as liaison between SORC, SWAP, CAB and the various student committees with regard to ongoing event planning. A complete job description can be downloaded here. The Activities and Events Coordinator is responsible for planning Women's History Month events, various holiday events and others. The Coordinator will communicate with clubs and committees and coordinate planning efforts for events. The Coordinator maintains a calendar of events and deadlines for planning, and is responsible for the timely creation and distribution of event planning and promotional material, including text and graphics. The Coordinator works in conjunction with SORC to track student and community involvement in events. A complete job description can be downloaded here. Our Graphic Designers design posters, flyers and other collateral material needed for promotional use of on campus events. In addition they coordinate printing of materials both on and offsite and collaborate with clubs on material design concepts. They chair the Poster Design Committee. Apply for a position Any full-time student (enrolled for 10 credits) who has completed 12 credits with a cumulative GPA of 2.5 is eligible to apply for a CAB position. CAB members serve a term starting in Fall quarter and ending in Spring quarter. Applications for next year's CAB will be available in Spring 2010. |
