Annual portfolio shows help launch new careers for graduates of Seattle Central's visual communication and design programs

June 14 to 16, 2011

SEATTLE — More than 100 graduating students from Seattle Central's visual communication and design programs are busy preparing for annual portfolio showcases, a final step before students launch new careers.

From June 14 to 16, these emerging leaders in fashion, graphic design, film and video, publishing arts and commercial photography will display their work at three unique graduate portfolio showcases. The presentations represent the culmination of two years of intensive study in the college's highly-regarded visual communication and design programs. All portfolio shows are free and open to the public.

The shows open with Final Press, the 32nd Annual Apparel Design Portfolio Fashion Showcase, Tuesday, June 14 from 9:00 a.m. – 8:00 p.m. Fashions will be on display in the lower and upper Atrium of the main college campus, located at 1701 Broadway. The event showcases the collections of 20 graduates of the Apparel Design program and will feature a variety of categories including coats, evening wear, kidswear, menswear, and costumes.

The collections are produced in 11 weeks as a capstone project and are a culmination of two years of rigorous training in design, garment construction, patternmaking, and business.
