SMA: Our Facilities

The fleet consists of: 43–foot troller; 83–foot cutter and, 101–foot training ship. The larger vessels are further described in the Training Fleet section of our web pages.

Computer Laboratory

Fully furnished 484 Sq. Ft. computer lab with eight student computer stations connected to a network server. Software programs of note include:

  • Electronics Workbench (electricity trainer)
  • FLAGS (International Code of Flags/Signals trainer)
  • Quizme II (databank of U.S. Coast Guard exam questions)
  • Radplot (radar simulator/trainer)
  • Stability for Ship Operations (stability trainer)
  • Wordperfect 5.1 (word processing package)

Library

The library functions primarily as a reference library. SMA subscribes to a myriad of marine periodicals which the student may review at the reading table. Via the on–line catalog system students can access the collections of all libraries within the Seattle Community College District and borrow books from those collections.

Student Lounge (a.k.a. The Atrium Lounge)

Located adjacent to the library the lounge comprises 741 Sq. Ft. and is equipped with a full kitchen, bathroom facilities and vending machines. The Administrative Office is temporarily located within the Student Lounge.
