This is to enable Sound Transit to prepare the ground underneath I-5 for the tunnel boring machine that will dig the tunnel for the University Link (U-Link), the 3.15 mile light rail line extension that will connect downtown Seattle, Capitol Hill, and the University of Washington. In addition to this long term closure, the Cherry Street on-ramp to I-5 northbound will be closed for about 4 weeks starting May 26, as well as one lane in northbound I-5. The Pine/Pike reversible HOV ramp from the I-5 express lanes will also close for about 1 year, until spring 2010. Detour maps are available at www.soundtransit.org/i5undercrossing
FROM Interstate 5 Northbound
Take Olive Way/Denny Way Exit 166 (under the Washington State Convention and Trade Center) and follow Olive Way east to Denny Way and turn right. Go up the hill and turn right on Broadway. Follow Broadway south to Pine, turn right, and go one block west to the Parking Garage located at Harvard and Pine.
FROM Interstate 5 Southbound
Take Stewart St./Denny Way Exit 166 and go straight through the first light. At the second light, turn left onto Denny Way. Follow Denny Way east to Broadway. Turn right, and follow Broadway south to Pine. Turn right onto Pine and go one block to the garage located at Harvard and Pine.
