I. STATEMENT OF PURPOSE

1. to promote the education, interaction and mutual appreciation of native, immigrant and international students at Seattle Central Community College
   
2. to provide high-quality English instruction to enable international students to reach their academic, career, and personal goals.
   

II. GOAL I -- Strategies:

1. SCIE offers content-based English instruction to international students to increase their communicative skills, cross cultural understanding and knowledge.
   
2. SCIE encourages interaction and understanding between international students and other students at Seattle Central Community College.
   
3. SCIE draws a diverse mix of nationalities to its programs.
   
4. SCIE generates revenue to support the educational goals of International Programs and the college as a whole.
   

III. GOAL II -- Strategies:

1. SCIE keeps abreast of the needs and interests of international students and directs its programs accordingly.
2. SCIE maintains high standards for staff, instructors, and students.
3. SCIE provides quality support services to enhance student success.
4. SCIE strives for continual growth and positive change.
