1. What is your full name?
Shuko Endo.

2. What country do you come from?
Japan.

3. Describe your program of study.
I studied in the College Bridge program for three months and then I began to take the International Internship Program. During this program,
I wanted to focus on business and computer technology, so I changed my course to Business Information Technology (BIT). This quarter is my last quarter in the BIT program.

4. What are your plans and goals for the future?
My goal for the future is to have my own business. I want to introduce the world's foods such as spices, herbs and wines to Japan through my own website.

5. Do you think Seattle Central is helping you achieve your goals? Why or why not?
Yes. The knowledge that I am learning at SCCC gives me broad skills, understanding and confidence in a today's business environment. The BIT program has a very intensive curriculum. It provides a wide range of knowledge and skills in computer usage, customer service and integrated communication.
This broad business knowledge is necessary to achieve my goal.

6. How would you describe Seattle?
Seattle has a wet climate, but because of this environment, we have clean air and beautiful nature. Through the year, it is mild climate, so it's comfortable to live in.
I like summer in Seattle because I can enjoy long daytime, beautiful sunshine, and lots of summer events in several places in Seattle. People in Seattle are very kind and friendly. I see diverse ethnicity including many Japanese people. Seattle is a safe and very attractive city.

7. How would you describe Seattle Central Community College?
SCCC gives great opportunities for students. For example, the Student Activity Center (SAC) provides a well-equipped gym and free exercise programs. I'm enjoying a Yoga class there.
I have many chances to meet a variety of students who have different nationalities, careers, and goals. I have learned so much from their cultural and racial diversity. They influence me positively, because when I talk with them, I feel that age and position in society don’t matter when we are learning something together.
This positive attitude is my motivating power toward achieving my career goal. Also, I appreciate that I received a Merit Scholarship. This scholarship helps and encourages me to focus on my studies.

8. What are the biggest differences between life in your country and life in Seattle?
The biggest difference between life in Japan and Seattle is the working attitude for work and study. When I was working in Japan, I felt that Japanese people value a group-oriented working style. We keep a good harmony with co-workers.
On the contrary, people in the U.S are more individually-oriented. Students in my class don't hesitate to speak up and give their opinion, even if their opinions are different. I think both working attitudes are very important.

9. Is there anything else you’d like to say to prospective students in your country who might be reading this?
Before I started to study in SCCC, I had lots of anxieties about my school life and communication because there are many differences between Japan and the U.S. But now I am really enjoying studying and staying in Seattle. SCCC has lots of great instructors. They always motivate me and give me good advice. Also, I have met many international students. These experiences will become my great treasure. I am sure that SCCC will provide you with a great opportunity to meet your challenge!
