Meet our Students
Back to introduction
1. What is your full name?
Samuel C Susilo.
2. What country do you come from?
Indonesia.
3. Describe your program of study.
I began my full time college studies in Business Administration and Management a year ago.
I could take college classes right away because I got the required TOEFL at the time I applied for
admission. Now I am in my last quarter and I will complete the Associate's Degree at the end of the
Winter Quarter.
4. What are your plans and goals for the future?
For the future, I am planning to continue my studies at a 4-year college/university.
I would like to get a Bachelor's degree in accounting and also I'd like to get a CPA license.
Then, after I finish all of this I'd like to work maybe one to two years in America, looking for an
experience that I believe will very helpful to build my capability as a person.
And then,
I would like to go back to my country and use my knowledge that I got in America to build and improve
the economy of my country.
5. Do you think Seattle Central is helping you achieve your goals? Why or why not?
I think SCCC has helped me so much in achieving my goals because at SCCC I learn not just theory,
but also the practical aspects of what I've studied. I have had the opportunity of working on campus,
and I have gained so many benefits from the experience. I have been working as an accounting assistant
where I get real business experience and get a sense of what it feels like working in the area where
I want to be in the future.
6. How would you describe Seattle?
One word to describe Seattle is PERFECT. From what I have seen for a year, Seattle is an ideal city
for a student because Seattle has many good and well-known universities, but also it offers many great
places to have fun. Seattle is also well known for its economy, as there are many opportunities to get
employed and be well paid. Talking about weather, Seattle also just perfect. During Winter I feel not
too cold, and the same thing happens during Summer --- I feel not too hot. Overall, I'd like to give
Seattle a 9 on a scale of 1-10.
7. How would you describe Seattle Central Community College?
SCCC is a great college, especially for an international student like me.
I feel very lucky choosing SCCC as my first college in the U.S. because here I have met many people
from other cultures, backgrounds, and personalities. At SCCC, even though you are an international student
and in the minority, nobody thinks of you as a minority and this circumtance has helped me so much to
develop my confidence. The teachers here also have high knowledgeable and they treat you very well.
All people and circumstances at SCCC are really helping and supporting you to be who you want to be.
8. What are the biggest differences between life in your country and life in Seattle?
Here I really push myself beyond my capability. I mean at SCCC there are a lot of great people,
diligent people, and smart people. All students want to be the best in their area of study and this
issue has encouraged me to be able to compete with them. In order to do that, I studied twice as hard as
I did back in my home country. At SCCC the level of competition is also double what I experienced back home. But all of these issues have really formed me to be a complete and better person.
9. Is there anything else you'd like to say to prospective students in your country who might be reading this?
In short, if you want to reach your dream or at least get closer to whatever your goals are,
just come to SCCC.
