Back to introduction
1. What is your full name?
Eros Ratna Tuladhar.
2. What country do you come from?
Nepal.
3. How long have you lived in the United States?
I have been here for 1 and a half years.
4. What is your favorite place in Seattle?
Seattle Center has some very interesting places like the Space Needle, EMP and the amusement park, which is very enjoyable during certain festive seasons.
5. What do you enjoy most about SCCC?
Unlike the other places in the United States, Seattle has a very diverse community. Seattle has an exceptionally good weather during the Spring season (a perfect place to live), not to forget that music legends like Jimi Hendrix, Kurt Cobain and Alice in Chains are from Seattle which is the reason why many people from different parts of the world come to Seattle to experience the music scene.
6. What are your plans for the future?
My main objective of coming to the United States was to complete a Masters degree in Business Administration, which is going to be about 6-8 years from now. After that, I plan to go back to my country to help my parents expand the family business and take it to the next level.
7. What are the biggest differences between life in your country and life in Seattle?
There are numerous differences between life in Nepal and Seattle. Culture shock was the biggest difference that I had to deal with when I first came to Seattle. In Nepal, people live more of a collectivistic life compared to that in Seattle, where in life here is lived in a very individualistic style. Leading a life in the American culture has certainly taught me to be more independent than before.
8. What do you consider to be your biggest accomplishments? Why?
My biggest accomplishment till now is that I have finally been able to pursue my life long dream of coming to the United States to complete my education. For people from a country like Nepal, it is very difficult to obtain a student visa and come to such a country like the U.S to study. Having successfully achieved this dream, I have been able to make my parents and family members proud of where I stand today.
