CollegeTransfer Program (Associate's Degree)
International Students planning to earn a bachelor's degree begin their
college studies at SCCC. Many
college transfer majors are available, including Business, Engineering,
Computer Science, Music and other programs in the Arts & Sciences.
In the College Transfer program, students earn an Associate of Arts
degree or an Associate of Science degree. As is the case with all community
colleges in the U.S., SCCC does not offer any bachelor's, graduate,
or post-graduate degree programs.
An associate's degree takes two years, or 90 credits, and is transferable
to a four-year university. After students complete their associate's
degree, they can transfer to a four-year college or university and complete
a bachelor's degree by taking two more years of study in their major.
In fact, here is a list of many of the universities
our international students have transferred to recently. Students appreciate
our lower tuition cost and small classes. ( Find out what the advantages
are for attending a community college.)
Although many of our students have transferred to well-known universities,
please note that completion of your studies at Seattle Central Community
College does not ensure entrance into a specific four-year institution.
Transfer to a four-year university is not guaranteed by Seattle Central
Community College and students granted admission to a university must
meet the specific entrance requirements of that institution. If you
intend on transferring, the college recommends that you utilize our
College Transfer Center's services or contact that university to obtain
detailed entrance requirements.
Associate of Arts (A.A.) Degree - SCCC students who
are interested in majoring in Music, Art, Languages, Sociology, Psychology,
Business, History or other fields in the social sciences or humanities
usually take this degree. The degree offers courses in a wide variety
of subjects.
Associate of Science (A.S.) Degree - This degree is designed
for students pursuing majors in the following areas: Biological Sciences,
Computer Sciences, Earth Sciences, Mathematics, Physical Sciences, Engineering
and Premedical Sciences. The A.S. degree concentrates more on the major
area of study than the A.A. degree.
Seattle Central offers classes to fulfill the general undergraduate
requirements in 45 areas. Following are just a few ideas of the many
educational paths you can choose from once you transfer to a university.
Students should work closely with an advisor in the College Transfer
Center to make sure that all possible degree requirements are met prior
to transfer.
