Application Requirements and Procedure for All Programs
All applicants must be 16 years of age, or have completed high school, at the time of enrollment.
To apply for admission to Seattle Central Community College, you must submit the following:

COMPLETING THE APPLICATION FOR ADMISSION
General Instructions:
- All parts of the application must be completed. Incomplete applications cannot be processed.
- Sign and date the application in the designated spot (online applicants: indicate approval of the statement on the application to submit)
- The name indicated on the application must match the name in your passport, to ensure immigration documents are issued correctly.
- Both the home country street address and the US street address (if applicable) must be physical addresses in order to meet immigration requirements. Post office boxes cannot be accepted, except as the mailing address (see Frequently Asked Questions for more details).
- Any changes to the application, including programs of study, major, mailing address, etc., must be made by the applicant, or by the representing agent.
- All documents submitted for admission become the property of Seattle Central, and will not be returned. Applicants are encouraged to make copies of their documents before submitting them for review.
- Please only submit materials required for the application. Additional materials submitted which are not required for the admissions process will not be kept by International Admissions.

Application fees:
The non-refundable application and processing fee of $50 must be paid before an application can be processed. The fee will be charged again if the application is deferred to a future quarter more than one time.
Payment options available:
- Personal Check, drawn on a US bank account
- International Bank Draft
- Credit Card Online (credit card payment information can only be submitted online, and cannot be accepted by phone, fax, or e-mail).
- Cash payment (in person only. Cash payments mailed to the International Office will not be accepted).
Financial Statement:
Applicants to Seattle Central Community College must provide a bank statement from a personal bank account or a sponsor’s bank account, indicating that US$17,000, or the equivalent, is available to finance their education in the United States (see Tuition, Expenses and Scholarships for a breakdown of these expenses).
- A sponsor can be any person or group of people, or organization that will support you in the United States (for example, family member, personal friend, a private company, a non-profit organization, etc.). The sponsor can be in the United States or overseas; the sponsor does not have to be a US citizen.
Exception: F-1 or M-1 students cannot sponsor other F-1 or M-1 students.
- A bank statement is a letter or statement of account from the bank where the applicant or sponsor maintains an account. Financial support may include checking or savings accounts, stocks, certificates of deposit, or other easily liquidated assets. The funds do not have to be in US dollars or in a US bank account, but it must be in convertible currency.
- Retirement accounts, guarantees of salary, overdraft ability or tax returns are not sufficient proof of financial ability.

Transfer Applicants (students transfering from other US institutions)
Applicants should apply at least two weeks before the first day of classes (to view the Academic Calendars, please click here). The International Admissions Office may set earlier deadlines depending on what space is available that quarter.
Special Admission Deadlines for the Institute of English
Applicants to the Institute of English (Intensive English and College Bridge) should follow the deadlines listed above, unless otherwise stated.
The International Admissions Office will occasionally set deadlines for applications to the Institute of English from specific countries, based on visa processing times and diversity interests of the program. Current special deadlines are listed below:

SENDING ACCEPTANCE MATERIALS
- Acceptance materials are normally sent by regular air mail.
- Upon payment of the application and processing fee, Seattle Central will provide one complimentary international express mailing to its educational partners, and to students in select countries, at no additional charge (Click here for a complete list of countries where free express mail is available).
- If an application is defered to a future quarter, or needs to be sent after the first mailing, the applicant must pay the $50 express mail fee.
- Students who are not in one of these countries may receive express mail service by paying $50 express mail fee in advance.
- The express mail fee is charged per student and can be paid by credit card online.

APPLICANTS FROM AGENTS & EDUCATIONAL PARTNERS
Educational agents submitting applications on behalf of their clients must include an official cover letter, on their office’s stationery, indicating they are applying on this student’s behalf (see agency cover letter sample). UNDER-AGE APPLICANTS
Seattle Central currently welcomes under-age applicants (16 & 17) who have not completed high school, who are independent, self-motivated and high achieving students. The International Office will review the transcripts of under-age applicants to determine eligibility for admission. ( additional information for under-age applicants)
APPLICANTS WITH DISABILITIES
The International Office encourages applicants with disabilities to identify themselves so adequate support provisions can be provided ( Additional information for applicants with disabilities ).
MEDICAL INSURANCE
All international students are required to have adequate medical insurance it the time of enrollment.
ORIENTATION Reporting Requirements
Accepted applicants should plan to arrive to attend orientation. Specific orientation will be provided with the acceptance materials. Applicants who cannot arrive in time for orientation must contact the international office in advance.

Orientation
- Orientation for college programs usually takes place 2 weeks before the beginning of the quarter (except for Winter quarter, when it takes place 1 month in advance).
- Orientation for the Institute of English 1 week before the beginning of the quarter.
