New Student Orientation and Testing
Students who are admitted to Seattle Central Community College receive detailed information on orientation and testing in their acceptance packets. However, the following provides some general guidelines.
• SCIE Orientation
Who should attend SCIE orientation?
SCIE Orientation is for those who:
a) have not provided proof of English proficiency OR
b) have not provided proof of English proficiency high enough to take the College English Placement Exam*
When is SCIE orientation scheduled?
– During Spring, Summer and Fall quarters, SCIE Orientation & Registration lasts for four days, and is held Monday through Thursday during the week before the quarter begins.
– During Winter quarter, SCIE Orientation/Registration begins on Jan. 2 (or later date if the 2nd falls on a weekend or is a school holiday) and lasts three days. Please note that, in Winter quarter, SCIE classes begin a week later than college classes.
• COLLEGE / COLLEGE BRIDGE Orientation
Who should attend COLLEGE / COLLEGE BRIDGE orientation?
College / College Bridge Orientation is for those who:
a) qualify for direct placement* into one of the following programs: College Bridge; College Transfer; FAST TRACK;
Professional and Technical Programs; or Short Term Certificate.
b) have provided proof of English proficiency high enough to take the College English Placement Exam*.
When is COLLEGE / COLLEGE BRIDGE orientation scheduled?
– During Spring, Summer and Fall quarters, College / College Bridge Orientation is a one - day orientation, and is held two Thursdays before the quarter start date.
– During Winter quarter, College / College Bridge Orientation is a one - day orientation, and is held in mid-December.
