Opportunity Grant

The goal of the Opportunity Grant is to help low-income adults reach the educational tipping point in high wage, high demand careers.

Eligible students pursing an approved program may receive funds to cover tuition and mandatory fees up to 45 credits and up to $1,000 for books and supplies per academic year.

Eligibility:

  • Washington State Resident (12 month minimum)
  • Family income at or below 200% federal poverty level
  • Demonstrate financial need (Must apply for Financial Aid @
    WWW.FAFSA.ed.gov School code: 003787)
  • Enroll in Opportunity Grant approved professional/Technical programs:
    1. Marine Deck Technology
    2. Marine Engineering
    3. IBEST
    4. Nursing
    5. Surgical Technician
    6. Social Health and Human Services (Child & Family Studies/ Chemical Dependency)
    7. Business Information Technology
    8. Wood Construction
    9. Network Design and Administration
  • You must not already posses a certificate or degree to be eligible.

To Apply For The Opportunity Grant:

  1. Apply for Financial Aid on-line.
  2. Download and complete the Opportunity Grant Application
  3. Take the completed application packet to the Opportunity Grant Coordinator, Shavette McGhee in Room BE4176.
