Introduction to MIC 101 HYBRID

Hello,

Welcome to the course!
My name is Yun Moh, and I am the instructor for MIC 101-HYBRID section that you are enrolled this quarter. If you are wailisted, I should have a room for you - be sure to attend the first class and get my signature.

This is a brief introduction to the course:

It is an HYBRID course which means we “meet” online as well as on-campus. The HYBRID format is design to give you the schedule flexibility and a accessible learning environment. The on-campus class is on Fridays between noon and 1:50 PM at room BE3173. The attendance is required. A link to the course syllabus is at the bottom of this page.

The online classroom is at: http://canvas.seattlecentral.edu/
The User Name is your student ID number (e.g. 980123456), and
The default password is the first 6 letters of your last name. Examples: Kelly O'Brien =obrien ------ Jill Wu = wuwuwu

Please, logon to the course Web site on the first day of the quarter (after 10 AM) and get started – please, do not wait until the on-campus class day. You have a lot to do before the first on-campus class day. You have the first assignment due this Saturday.

You have the first assignment due this Wednesday. Once you logon, you will find all information you need at the Web site. If you have a question, email the instructor using the course email from the course Web site. Here is how:

You can have a head start by following the information below before you get the access to the course Web site:

Software and Hardware

The course is based on Microsoft Office 2013 (Word 2013, Excel 2013, Access 2013, and PowerPoint 2013). The college Computer Center have all required applications, so you do not need to have your own computer and applications. Expect 4-6 lab-hours per week.

If you need to work off-campus, you will need a PC with the applications. The college provides a free copy of MS Office 2013 Professional.

The course is also based on Microsoft Windows 7, and an older Windows would be okay, too. You need a PC with Internet connection and Adobe Flash player and Adobe Reader.

Required Textbook and MyITLab Training Account

In addition to the software, you need a textbook and an access code for MyITLab 2013, a special training application.

Get the textbook bundle from the college bookstore. They offer one of the best prices for the bundle. The bundle contains the textbook and MyITLab 2013 Access Code. The following is the details.

The Textbook: GO! with Office 2013 Volume 1
