I practice my craft at the Seattle Central Community College Library - a vibrant learning environment where I promote the value of information literacy and universal access to information. I'm the library liaison for the Basic Studies division. I collaborate with the faculty to select materials to support the ESL, GED, and Adult Basic Education programs. |

Born
and raised in Montego Bay, Jamaica and continuing my journey of discovery
in Seattle. I leave Jamaica, but Jamaica doesn't leave me. Sample the true Yardsuite Experience, where Jamaican rhythm meets Seattle beat, and give nuff respect to de pickney. Walk good! |

My professional tool kit helps me keep up with current issues and trends in library and information science.
My first taste of the U.S. education system at
Barry University,
then, after a LONG break,
it was back-to-school at the
University of Washington.
I entered the halls of Suzzallo to
start
Library
School, (now the iSchool)
overcame my computer phobia at the GSLIS Computer
Lab, and got my first taste of library work
at the
UW Libraries.
Balance is one of my goals - I'm a natural skeptic,
so I like to be aware of different perspectives, the varied ideas and issues
floating around. This Anarchist
Librarians site keeps me on my toes, along with the NewBreed
Librarian (now defunct) e-zine.
While I have a strong work ethic, I also try
to slow down sometimes, take a walk, relax, breathe, laugh... Consider the
image of the librarian; we're not all shh'ing bunheads. Meet the
Lipstick Librarian , check out
Hypatia's Humorous Library Tales , and don't forget...
Thwart Not The Librarian . Whaddyathink of these Quotations about
Libraries and Librarians ? And here's some
Library Humor !
