1.  What is the classical subdivision of the Earth's interior?  Make a sketch.  Label.

 2.  What is the classical subdivision of the Earth’s interior based on?  In other words, what is the basis for this classification scheme?

 3.  How can we determine what's inside the Earth?  3 or 4 very different ways of determining what's in the Earth's interior.

 4.  The Earth's interior started off uniform, homogeneous, and is now layered, stratified.  How did the Earth become layered, differentiated?

 5.  Are P waves and S waves the same as reflected waves and refracted waves?   Explain.

 6.  The Earth is very hot inside; how did the Earth get so hot (where did this heat come from, what is the source of this heat)?

 7.  How do we know that the outer core is molten/liquid?  Two different ways of determining that the outer core is liquid.

 8.  Sketch the Earth’s present day magnetic field and with the Earth’s magnetic field reversed from present day.  The magnetic field has direction/arrows; show the arrows.
