Consider my first house, which I purchased in 1969 for $19,000.

The house is located in the Montlake neighborhood, a short 20-minute walk south of the University of Washington.  The 1-½ story stucco house has a large formal dining room, kitchen with dining-ell, large living room with fireplace, full-basement, detached garage and two bedrooms on the second floor.  My first house is a typical Montlake house with plaster walls, coved ceilings, hardwood floors, and a boatload of charm.  The most distinctive feature is a stucco turret entry.  The house sits on a very quite residential street.  A conservative estimate of today’s market value would be in the $500,000 - $600,000 range.  Not a bad investment!  What happened?  What transpired over this 30 plus year period?
