Dear Human Resource Personnel
I am interested in the position advertised in the Bellfield School website for an interpreter at Bellfield School. I will graduate with an Associate of Applied Science degree from Seattle Central Community College Interpreter Training Program in May 2008 and I expect to take my NIC written exam June 7, 2008. I enjoy working with elementary age school children. My primary internship experience was at Baker Elementary and this was a deciding factor that I would like to pursue an interpreting position in an elementary school setting. I would like to join the responsible and qualified team of interpreters that I met at your school. I believe Bellfield School and its team of interpreters will provide me with the opportunity to improve and develop in the interpreting field.
I have a special interest in interpreting in elementary school setting. While I was in Interpreter Training Program, I worked for 2 years as a teacher’s aide in the Preschool Program under Hearing, Speech and Deafness Center. I assisted teachers in providing 1 on 1 tutoring with the Deaf and Hard of Hearing children, provided assistance during mealtimes, interpreted for the Deaf teacher as needed, assisted the teachers in filing, decorating the classrooms, cleaning etc. This has given me invaluable experience in working with young children.
I look forward to an interview with you to discuss my education and experience. Please contact me at (222) 333-4444 or at the address above. I have enclosed a copy of my resume with this letter. Thank you for your attention and consideration.
Sincerely,
Newly Graduated Interpreter
