College-Wide Tutoring

What We Do

The college-wide tutoring center offers free one-on-one and group tutoring each quarter in a variety of subjects, such as:

  • Accounting
  • Biology
  • Business
  • Chemistry
  • Computers
  • English
  • Foreign Languages
  • Math
  • Physics
  • Professional/Technical Programs

How It Works

  • Register once per year for tutoring in the center, Library Room ERA/ESL.
  • You may sign up for two half-hour sessions per week in each subject in which you are enrolled. You must be registered for the class at SCCC in which you want tutoring!
  • The center is paid for by funds from both Student Leadership and the SCCC Foundation, but it is free to SCCC students!

Location & Hours

The college-wide center is located in Library Room ERA/ESL.

Day Hours
Monday - Thursday8:00am to 8:00pm
Friday8:00am to 4:00pm
Saturday11:00am to 3:00pm

Appointments are essential for the hours 8:00am to 4:00pm, Monday through Friday.

You may sign up directly on the schedules posted on the bulletin board. After 4:00pm and on Saturdays, the center operates on a drop-in basis - you do not need an appointment during these times.

About Our Tutors

  • Tutors come from a variety of educational backgrounds. Some are students at SCCC or at other local colleges and universities who are recommended by an instructor, some are recent college graduates who have demonstrated expertise in their subject area, and some are professionals from the community who want to contribute to student success.

  • Most tutors are paid part-time employees, some are work-study students, some are earning credit for tutoring through service learning, and others are volunteers.
