Please join us at Seattle Central College's Commencement to honor and celebrate your achievements.
Date, time, venue and parking
Saturday, June 18, 2016, 1–3 p.m. Benaroya Symphony Hall, 3rd and Union. Parking will be available in the Benaroya Hall parking garage for about $11.
Grad help checklist
- Submit your free graduation application form.
- Purchase a cap & gown.
- Don't worry about tickets. They are not required for you or your guests to participate in Commencement.
- There is no rehearsal but you will be directed when you get there.
- Arrive early at Commencement and with a gown!
Who may participate
You may participate in the commencement ceremony if you have completed or expect to complete your program requirements for a degree, certificate or diploma during the 2015–16 academic year. Students who only have 5–10 credits left to take summer quarter are free to march but their names will be in the 2017 program.
If you have not done so already, please complete your FREE graduation application form and submit it to the Registration & Records office. To confirm if you are eligible to graduate (after they have made a request) by calling the transcript evaluator at 206.934.4315. Learn more about Graduation Requirements.
You will receive a letter in mid–May confirming your graduation status as well as information about ordering your cap and gown.
What to wear
Graduates must wear caps and gowns. These will be available for purchase mid–May at the Seattle Central Bookstore, and you are encouraged to wait for the sale.
If there is no way the student can afford a gown they should contact Women's Programs and Student Leadership to borrow a gown that prior graduates have donated.
More detailed information about the ceremony will be provided with the gown purchase. Keep track of your tassels.
Any student with a cumulative GPA of 3.8 and above as of winter quarter is considered an Honors Student and will receive a gold tassel. Qualifying for the President's List, the Dean's List, or Phi Theta Kappa is not necessarily equivalent to being on the Honor Roll because the GPA requirements differ.
Notes for participating guests
Guests are welcome, but due to limited space please limit guests to six as seating is not guaranteed. Tickets are not required. Due to the length and formality of the program, it is strongly advised that young children not attend.
Special needs requests should be made in advance. There will be interpreters. Call 206.934.3840 for more information and 206.934.3890 for special accommodations.
There will be a photographer present and a $5 discount on a $25 order if you pre–register at gradimages.com up until 48 hours before the event.
