Financial Support at Seattle Central

The Seattle Central Foundation coordinates the scholarships specifically for Seattle Central students and awards $500,000 in scholarships to students each year. The Seattle Central Foundation hosts workshops and information sessions to help students prepare their applications.

What factors do scholarship base their funding on?

You can find scholarships based on many factors including, but not limited to, area of study, year in school, interests, ethnicity, volunteer experience and grade point average.

When is the best time to apply for scholarships?

There are scholarship deadlines every month, so keep a folder of scholarship information and commit at least 2–5 days a month to searching for scholarships and filling out applications. Start searching for scholarships about a year before school begins as most scholarships award money for the beginning of Fall or summer quarter regardless if the application is due in October or June.

How many scholarships can I apply for?

You should apply for as many as you qualify for. There is no limit on how many scholarships you can apply for or receive.

How can I get the applications for scholarships?

Many scholarship applications are available online at the scholarship information website. Although, some scholarships may require you to write a letter requesting an application. Always enclose a self–addressed, stamped envelope so the scholarship provider can mail you back the application.

What do scholarship applications usually require?

Most scholarships require an application form, a short essay about your goals or a specific topic, letters of recommendation from instructors or employers, and academic transcripts. Some scholarships require information such as financial statements (in order to assess financial need), a list of activities such as volunteer experience or work experience.
