Les Monde des Animeaux:Contemporary Haitian Art
October 23 through November 20, 2007
Les Monde des Animeaux, Contemporary Haitian Art is a group exhibition of recent work created within the social, political, and spiritual milieu of this West Indies Island. These artists based in Jacmel, the artistic capitol of Haiti, have branched out from traditional genres summoning their own voices and creating a new legacy of animistic vision. Artists include; Nurson Desruisseau, Didier Civil, Ambroise Anderson, Jean Jeudy, Edward Craft and Destin Domond. In a country with limited resources and extensive daily challenges it is the artists who bring forth commentary that serves as cultural identity and national pride. This is an opportunity to share in this rich and vibrant work celebrating all that is human and beyond.
